The Fundex F3500 is one of the largest machines in the range of Fundex multifunctional foundation rigs. The F3500 is used for a variety of drilling and pile-driving methods such as soil displacement drilling, CFA drilling, cast-in-situ and pre-cast pile-driving. The cabin can be swiveled out to provide a good view of the work. The extension pieces for the leader are fed in from the bottom, which is beneficial in limited spaces and makes for easy and fast installation. The strong tubular leader is suitable for torque of 500kNm over the entire length. Because of the unique leader construction, it is possible to lower the leader 35 meters beneath the soil level. Stability of the F3500 is high thanks to front and rear supports and a low centre of gravity. Because of the use of an additional powerpack the transport weight is low.

The CK1000 is fabricated from high tensile steel and optimized using CAD technology for unmatched rigidity. Fully hydraulic, it excels in all crawler crane operations.

The Kobelco CK1100G Crawler Crane is designed from the ground up for reliable operation, convenient maintenance and easy transport. The CK1100G features a new engine that complies with EPA Tier IV Final standards. Clutch and braking functions on the free-fall system are provided by a compact design, low wear and maintenance-free multi-disc brake. The drag and hoist winches use pressure controlled, variable flow hydraulic motors. This system features sensors that automatically adjust oil flow to provide max winch speed depending on the load. The Manitowoc 11000-1 Lattice-Boom Crawler Crane is a competitive offering from Manitowoc in the 100 mt (110 USt) crawler crane market. Featuring self-assembly capabilities and button style wire rope terminations allowing for a quick and easy assembly.

The 11000-1 comes equipped with new energy saving systems. The Green-Engine mode conserves fuel during full speed drum operation under load at a lower engine RPM. It has a self-erecting counterweight that eliminates the need for an assist crane and allows for reduced counterweight chart operation. The retractable crawlers can be extended and retracted for better jobsite maneuverability.

The Mantis 14010 Telescopic Crawler Crane has a capacity of 70-tons and a maximum counterweight of 30,000lbs (13.6-tonnes). The Mantis has an extraordinarily low center of gravity with a minimum overhead clearance height of just 10ft 1ins (3.06m). Rated at a 70-ton lifting capacity and a full 10ft (3m) radius, the Mantis can pick-and-carry its entire load chart through a full 360. With tracks extended, the crane can make lifts with the main boom fully telescoped to 111ft 6ina (34m) and laid-out horizontally. Even with zero counterweight installed – the 14010 can pick-and-carry 60-tons and operate with its main boom fully extended to reach a radius of 90ft (28m).

The Mantis specializes in narrow roadways with tracks retracting for 12ft 6ins overall width. It can walk with 70,600lbs on booms to 61ft (18.6m) or 44,000lbs on the fully telescoped main boom. The Mantis 14010 can pull through deep mud without bogging down and offers a new luxury cab with state-of-the-art operator aids.

The Mantis 15010 Telescopic Crawler Crane combines renowned heavy-duty design with new control and operating features. It is designed to handle heavy-duty cycle applications as well as pure lift crane work. The 15010 is designed from the ground up as a telescopic boom crawler crane. The piles were installed using an advanced hydraulic impact hammer mounted on a 110-ton crawler crane. From equipment mobilization through final pile installation, our experienced foundation drilling team focused on precision, safety and operational efficiency.

Completing foundation work beside one of British Columbia’s busiest transportation corridors required detailed planning and close coordination.

Although traffic control was managed by the client, the HFDI team worked within strict traffic management plans, limited operating windows, overhead restrictions and extensive site safety requirements.

Heavy-equipment mobilization was carefully scheduled to reduce disruption to Highway 1 traffic. This included moving the 110-ton crawler crane during overnight hours, at approximately 2 a.m., while maintaining the project’s required safety standards.

Safety and accuracy remained central throughout every stage of the foundation pile installation. Our team coordinated equipment, personnel and installation activities to meet demanding site conditions without compromising quality or productivity.

Henry Foundation Drilling Inc. (HFDI) completed specialized deep foundation and temporary shoring work for multiple bridge structures in Tappen, BC.

Working with Emil Anderson Construction Inc., our team installed driven piles, sheet piles and temporary shoring systems to support the eastbound and westbound bridges and the Tappen Creek Bridge. The multi-year project required careful coordination around traffic, overhead utilities, environmental requirements and sensitive work areas.

Tappen Bridges Foundation and Piling Project

HFDI installed a total of 51 driven piles across the Tappen bridge project:

Our scope included pile installation, drilling cleanouts and the installation of temporary support systems required for the bridge foundations.

Each element was installed according to the project specifications while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy and efficient site operations.

Driven Pile Installation for Multiple Bridges

The project required several types of heavy foundation construction equipment to complete the work safely and efficiently.

HFDI used Kobelco CK1100 crawler cranes for lifting and pile-driving operations, BG30 drilling rigs for pile cleanouts and an RTG piling rig for specialized installation work.

Using the right equipment for each phase allowed our team to adapt to changing site conditions and complete the foundation and shoring work within the required tolerances.
